Mountain Devil is a personal book blog that has been running since early 2024. Its purpose is to reflect on the books we have read to convey what we enjoyed, what we didn’t and engage with other readers. Since the site’s inception, we have been consistently writing reviews at a rate of ~2-4 per month and have now published over 100 on a wide range of literature.
Mountain Devil has two reviewers: Cait and her partner Dek. They live in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, Australia.
Cait almost exclusively reads fiction and writes most of the reviews. She tries to review every book she reads and doesn’t limit herself to any particular genre. She likes international fiction, but not Kudos by Jenny Erpenbeck. She likes Sally Rooney, but not Beautiful World Where Art Thou. She likes Calls Me By Your Name by André Aciman, but thought the film was better.
Dek also writes book reviews and some videogame reviews. He reads both fiction and non-fiction, but doesn’t review everything he reads. He likes science fiction, but not The Martian by Andy Weir. He likes The Last of Us, but not the HBO mini-series. He likes the idea of many business books, but not the business people who write them.
Mountain Devil accepts physical books (but not e-books), including advance copies for review. Contact us at mountaindevil@aerowalsh.com for more details. Although we won’t necessarily review every book, we will normally review books within 2 months of receipt and publish the review on this blog (www.aerowalsh.com/mountaindevil). Our reviews will be independent and we will disclose in the review that the book was provided to us. Please let us know if a review release window is required for the book. We generally won’t accept the following:
- Romance novels
- Self-help books
- Self published books
